About Me

Hello all! My name is Shreekrishna Maharjan. I am from a beautiful tiny Himalayan country Nepal. I was born in Pulchowk, Patan. I completed my school in 1988 from Adarsha Vidya Mandir (AVM) Higher Secondary Boarding School, Lalitpur. I received my Proficiency Certificate Level in Science (Physical & Biological) in 1990 from Amrit Science College (ASCOL), Kathmandu.

Despite being selected and was in Moscow in 1991 to study undergraduate medicine, I returned and accepted Australian International Development Assistance Bureau (AIDAB) scholarship to study in Australia. In 1995, I received Honors Degree of Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology from Monash University, Melbourne.

Returning to Nepal, I worked as a Biochemist in Apollo Health Care, Diagnostics & Research Center, Kathmandu from 1996 to 1999 and then on wards in nation's only B.P Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital, Nepal. In 2001, I was selected for AusAid scholarship to study my Masters in Australia, but I chose the prestigious Fulbright Scholarship to do MS in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology in New York Medical College, USA.

In 2005, I obtained my Master’s degree, but I was already enrolled into PhD in 2004. I got my PhD in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology in 2009. It was a joy to prefix my name with Dr. and suffix with PhD. I did my first postdoc in Pathology in New York Medical College from 2009 to 2011 and then moved Ohio State to do second postdoc in Molecular Genetics of Hypertension in Toledo University from 2011 to 2012.

Again returning back to hometown, I got appointed in 2013 as a Faculty in Basic Medical Sciences in School of Medicine of Patan Academy of Health Sciences in Lalitpur. Since then I have been into academics coordinating and teaching Biochemistry and Molecular Biology to undergraduate medical students here in Nepal as an Assistant Professor. Apart from daily academics of teaching, it is fun to start blogging on this field to share information, knowledge and experiences with different kinds of people in net round the world.
